I keep seeing questions about which schools highly consider last 45 GPA, allow in-state residency after one year, do grade replacement etc...and I thought it might be useful to compile those things in one place. If you think of more lists that might be useful to add to this list, comment below! Also if you have any additions or corrections in general. Note I only looked at US schools because I may be bored but I'm not that bored.

Hi All! Starting a thread since I did not see any for this cycle.
I was recently accepted into CSUEB's PHAP program for the AET/Track-II path (I'm pre-PA). I wanted to see if anyone has accepted their admissions? And if any current or graduated students from the program have feedback on if CSUEB PHAP truly made them a more competitive applicant or not?

I am currently on the fence since program is expensive (~18k for 1 year/10 courses minimum as required for the certificate) but I do need...

emergency medications - for clinic

does everyone have emergency airway/equipment/meds for in clinic procedure room?

i only do simple joint/nerve and some lumbar injections. rest goes to ASC. i did have one episode of contrast allergy last year which made me think i should at least have epi pen in clinic.. what are people doing and what kits/meds do you have?

hello!

I am thinking of applying to PITT but I have seen on SDN threads that online courses are not accepted at all. I have taken a few courses online (not prerequisites) but I do have 118 credits of in-person classes as well. I was wondering if anyone knows if this would be an issue. When I searched their admissions page, there is nothing that says that online courses are not accepted, in fact it says:

1) prerequisite classes taken onsite at a four year institution with a B or higher...

I am part of a bsmd program that allows you to apply to other schools without losing your seat. Should I mention this in the application or leave it out?

It could:
  • explain why I am applying after two years of undergrad
  • maybe be impressive as the programs are selective and I have a seat
At the same time, it is unclear what goes on in the mind of an adcom. They could get confused that a bsmd program is non-binding, might find it strange why I am applying to another school...

Question on Chirality!

What is the total number of isomers with the formula C3H6O that are either cyclic or chiral?

The answer was 6 isomers on Khan Academy, and the hints are provided below. But I don't seem to understand why the cis/trans non cyclic isomers can be considered chiral. I mean is there an explanation I am missing?

Let’s consider possible cyclic compounds. The oxygen will be single bonded either as an ether and part of the ring structure or as an alcohol and outside any ring...

Aways in the upcoming COVID cycle

As an osteopathic medical student applying ENT this year and the new recommendations should I be worried about having too many aways scheduled? I have been reading that some specialties are frowning upon having more than 1-2 aways. If anyone has any insight from their own program and their current stance I would really appreciate it.

plateau at 506-507 and not seeing improvement/retaking june 20

I have currently applied to TX schools bu have indicated that I am retaking June 20.
My first MCAT attempt was on January 18, 2020. I scored a 506.
Major deficiencies were CP and CARS after the first time.

After continuing study (breaking due to end-of-semester projects + COVID uncertainty), I took a month break.
I got back to studying the last three weeks and took an Altius full-length exam. I scored a 507.

As always, my study technique was this:
UWorld Qbank + AAMC questions...

plateau at 506-507 and not seeing improvement/retaking june 20

Hi everyone I have a 497 mcat, 3.25 cgpa and 3.01 sgpa - integrative neuro from binghamton University
I am attending a 40-42 credit masters program this fall (TouroNY direct admit masters)

Should i apply to schools reguarly while in the masters or should I not bother because my stats are too low? I could send my masters grades by december but other than that not too much change in my app

last cycle i applied in february and got rejected from all DO schools

I am a 4th year us md student who will be applying to match 2021. I am trying to decide between family medicine and internal medicine. I know I want to work in primary care ( so I will definitely not specialize if I do internal medicine). However, once I am an attending I want to work like 4 days a week ( or even better 3 12 hour clinic days). But based on the many posts that I have seen on sdn and reddit, it seems like this flexibility is more common in family medicine rather than IM...
