What is your office setup from a security standpoint? We are in a clinic associated with a hospital, but physically separated by a short distance. Their security guards can come if we need them, but not an ideal setup. Thankfully it’s a rare situation, but wanted to hear from everybody else on how you do things.

My student wants more work and I'm over it.
Preceptor here in specialty pharmacy. Currently working from home so the rotation is also from home for the student. So I have adjusted. Usually they would tour the facility, listen in on patient calls, and eventually make a few calls out to patients to counsel. My workplace won't allow them to be involved with any calls right now due to work from home issues and they have no access to patient profiles from home.
My rotation is an elective and Non direct care.
As a preceptor I really care...

Canadian Match Statistics
Hey, looking for some hope as a Canadian student hoping to specialize. From the 2019 "Combined Phase I & II Statistics for Applicants" (Dental Match | Statistics of the Match) the proportion of Canadian grads that actually match seem incredibly low - almost unrealistically and discouragingly low.
For instance, for the 230 OMS spots available, 2 Canadian grads matched or for the 294 Ped spots, 4 Canadian grads matched. Is there some...

Psychology professional identity and relation to master's-level fields
Hi all,
Some wanted a thread on this--how do psychologists relate to masters-level fields that originated in psychology but are increasingly seeing themselves as and being seen as distinct fields that are separate from psychology, with their own accrediting bodies, licensing boards, ethics codes, and professional organizations? I'm thinking of fields where master's degrees are the primary degree for license/practice--counseling, ABA, and MFT come to mind as big ones (I'd argue that social...

Barry University MBS vs. Rutgers University MBS Fall 2020
Hey! So a little background information. I applied to dental school for the past two schools and did not get accepted to any programs. My oGPA is 3.19 (not sure about my science, but around that as well). I took the DAT twice and scored 19 both times. So, I have decided that I will pursue a master's program to help me boost my application and be more competitive. Well, I got accepted into Barry University's MBS program for Fall 2020 on the 2-year dental track AND Rutgers MBS program for Fall...

Dental service demand during the outbreak
How's the patient flow in your office during these different times? I've been hearing opposite sides of the spectrum and wonder if dentists have felt the change in their office. Any contingency plans in case of a drop in patient flow? Fun times we live in these days, I was expecting a significant drop but instead have met with a massive surge in demand.

How do programs compare COMLEX scores to USMLE?
I go to a school that is heavy on primary-care focus. We have heard that COMLEX is equal to USMLE after the merger. I get the idea of encouraging folks to choose primary fields, but it still sounds a little misleading.
I thought COMLEX is mainly acceptable to former AOA programs in terms of scaling the scores and comparing.
Is it better to still write the Step 1 if I'm unsure what type of programs I want to apply to?
On the flip side, if a DO student does Step 1 and fails it, wouldn't...

Letter of Recommendation Advice
I am currently applying to MD/DO programs. Some of the DO programs that I want to apply to require a letter of recommendation from a DO. I graduated May 2020 and am taking a gap year. I was planning to shadow a DO during my gap year but because of covid, I no longer can. My only option now would be to try emailing DOs and ask them to meet virtually and talk to them about their career and possibly ask them then. Would that be okay to do? Any advice?

Goro's advice for pre-meds who need reinvention
So you want to be a doctor, but your GPA is terrible. Is that the end? Rule #1: Take a deep breath, and stop fussing. The sky is not falling.
But you are going to need to reinvent yourself. This will take both time and money. And always remember that you’re in a marathon now, not a sprint. The following advice holds true for people considering MD and DO. I strongly recommend that you keep both in mind, and the latter is more tolerant of reinvention.

Does this count as having matriculated to medical school?
- Began college at 18 years old in the UMKC 6-year combined BA/MD program
- Withdrew after one year; the last course I took was undergraduate organic chemistry
- By the time I apply to DOs/MDs, will have a 3.75 GPA (likely higher)
- Hundreds of hours of research, shadowing, clinical experience, non-clinical experience, leadership, etc. Withdrew from the program and pursued pre-med like there was no tomorrow, basically
- 4.0 GPA for every single semester since I...
