Hey guys, I just wanted to know what are the chances of an IMG matching to diagnostic-radiology in your opinion? NRMP stats make feel hopeful, but I feel like a lot of IMGs applying to rad did radiology residency in their home country before applying. Thanks in advance!

Disclaimer: Post was found in a bottle washed up on the mod team's private island.
The AMCAS Application will be opening soon, and with it comes a ton of questions. The "Work and Activities" Section is probably the most talked about section. For reference, here are three older threads that contain lots of valuable information about this section:

Backed into a corner by residency
Hi all,
Looking for some advice here. I’m a categorical pgy2 in a new general surgery program. I’ve had attendings comment on my financial background and personal background and hold a prejudice against me since I was an intern. I have been told by faculty that “I should ask my parents to buy me a different car”. I was pulled off my vascular surgery rotation during my second year due to prejudice from the attendings. My program put me on remediation this year due to a small HIPAA violation...

Addressing PE
Somehow I find myself making another new thread lol.
Another poster recommended to me that I should make this one to increase visibility of what I am doing. I currently have an email drafted to local government leaders in both PE testing locations addressing concern over the NBOME's insistence of delivering this exam despite the NBME's recent announcement. I am going to send this email myself, and believe it would be very beneficial if as many people as possible would send it, or something...

ucla vs uc irvine (honors/regents/deans) pre med
hi i am a high school senior currently trying to decide between ucla and uc irvine for pre med.
UCLA appeals to me because of its prestige and location; however, i am hesitant because of the tough competition that is there hence leading me to probably get a lower GPA/weeded out of pre-med entirely
UC Irvine, although ranked lower, seems to be a good mid-tier UC, where it would be easier to stand out and obtain a higher GPA.
My question is, is it really true that classes at UCLA are THAT...

Student Loan Repayment for Anesthesiologists
What type of student loan repayment option do you recommend a PGY1 Anesthesia resident take?
- Pay As You Earn (PAYE) - will allow you to take advantage of Public Service Loan Forgiveness so that after 10 years of on-time payments (4 years residency + 6 years as attending working in non-profit hospital) the remainder of your loans are forgiven.

DO waitlist support thread 2019-2020
Hi everyone,
This looks like a good time to make a WL support thread for anybody who got WL'd at an DO school.
Drop when you got WL'd, when you interviewed, how many WL's you're on , any info you want to, really.

Arizona State Pre-Med
I am currently an incoming high school senior looking to eventually go to med school. I have a 4.0 gpa and a 1450 SAT (1490 superscore). I am considering staying in state at ASU, going to an out of state school with a higher med school acceptance rate (prob in California) , or doing a BSMD program at probably either Toledo or UMKC. I was wondering if ASU is a good option given it’s relatively small premed program or those rather unprestigious automatic admission shorten programs would be...

Strengths/Weaknesses of the MSK fellowships in Texas?
Currently finishing up R2 year in a CA program. Pretty sure im gonna apply for MSK fellowships. Have pretty good understanding of the different MSK programs in CA due to proximity.
My wife and I think that TX would also be a place we wouldnt mind settling down in after training. Wondering if anyone can comment on the strengths/weaknesses of the MSK fellowship programs in texas?
Thanks for the input!

Advice for Shadowing Doctors
Hi, I'm a rising sophomore on a pre-med path and I was wondering if anyone has any advice for shadowing doctors. With the pandemic taking place I was going to focus on shadowing as well as volunteer work in my area. It would be my first time shadowing doctors and I don't exactly know what I'm doing or what particularly medical schools look for when you shadow. I am aware they like about 40+ hours of shadowing for each doctor you choose, but does it have to be some amazing doctor well known...

1 vs. 2 dogs in med school
Hi, For anyone who is in med school with a dog or multiple dogs, what is your recommendation for 1 vs. 2 dogs? I haven’t started school yet but currently have a chihuahua puppy, however I won’t attend school until 2021 so I’ll have ample time to train him (chis are considered adults at age 1 unlike larger breeds). I was planning on getting a second chi puppy in a few months so he would have a companion when I was gone during the day, but talking to some MS3s it sounds like it may not be the...

SDN blowing mid-level encroachment out of proportion or is it real?
Basically I’ve gone down a rabbit hole searching the internet about mid-levels. I’ve come to the point where I need a realistic answer to the threat they impose. After all my reading I’m terrified of taking on half a million in debt because the way I see it is mid-levels will be doing everything in 10 years and there will just be a hand full of Docs supervising. I feel like it will be marketed to the general public as a solution to high healthcare costs. What are your guy’s thoughts?

Pediatrician vs PNP
Hi!
I am very new here (this account was just verified a few minutes ago) so I apologize if there’s anything wrong with this post. I’m about to start college and need to make a decision, and these decisions have been narrowed down to Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Pediatrician. I don’t hope to start fights, I just want to get expert opinions.
Anyway, I was convinced I wanted to be a Pediatrician, but when I told my parents, they told me not to and said I should be a nurse, and then the...

Drug testing, which compounds do they search for?
I ask this without fear of judgment or anything:
When medical schools drug test, they're just looking for the regular things like marijuana, cocaine, etc., right? If a person has been taking a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM), basically a performance enhancer, would that show up on his or her drug test and cause them to flag him or her?

Is this considered a post-bacc?
I apologize if this is a repost, I've tried searching for threads like these but the search function on SDN has made it pretty difficult.
I'm taking courses over the summer at my university online, but I've already finished my senior year as well as all of the requirements for my bachelor's. My degree hasn't been conferred yet so I technically haven't graduated. Would this be considered a post-bacc or would it just factor into my cumulative undergraduate GPA?

My program advisor told me I have a low shot
Rising fourth year at a mid tier US MD school. Bombed Step 1 (no excuse but got sick that day and underperformed my practice test predictions) and received a 210. Did okay third year- mainly High Passes, but averaged mid/high C to mid B on shelf exams. I want to do rheumatology or Allergy. I've been studying very hard for Step 2 and due to take it end of July. I am currently in Texas and would to know if I have a shot at any program in this state that would give me a good chance to match...
